About

Levi MacDougall is a some-awards-winning comedian, writer and actor.  He was born in a part of Canada and he tells jokes and stories.

After getting his start at the Loose Moose Theatre Company in Calgary, Levi moved to Toronto to begin talking and performing comedy.  In 2001, he was nominated for (and won) the Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Award.  Following this, he made his first national talk-show appearance on the no-longer-existing Open Mike with Mike Bullard show.

In 2004, Levi recorded an hour-long stand-up special for CTV’s Comedy Now! which went on to win two Canadian Comedy Awards.  It was also nominated for a Gemini (the Canadian equivalent of the Emmy).

Levi is one of the founding members of the sketch comedy troupe The Distractions (along with Paul Schuck and Tim Polley).  Together they wrote and performed an all-new feature length show every month for 3 years, which led to a pilot being filmed for The Comedy Network.  The group, along with other like-minded friends, later created the comedy collective Laugh Sabbath, which to this day puts on a new show every Sunday at the Rivoli in Toronto.

Levi was recently seen as a series regular on The Comedy Network’s new show Hotbox. He’s also been a regular cast member on popcultured and The Jon Dore Show (in the recurring role of renowned savior, Jesus Christ).  Stand-up-wise, Levi recently opened for legendary comedian Mort Sahl at Pop Montreal.  Other acts he’s opened for include musicians Bob Wiseman, Ndidi Onukwulu and Baby Eagle.  He’s appeared on Andy Kindler’s Alternative Show at Just For Laughs, Boston Comedy Festival, Hollywood Improv and Comedy Death-Ray at the UCB in L.A.

He is currently in Los Angeles writing for Comedy Central’s “Important Things with Demetri Martin.”
